Overview
Granite Dezigns of Illinois is a granite fabricator in Chicago, IL. Frustrated with their previous site and developer, their need was for an updated redesign and cost-effective hosting with open communication with the developer. Photography was also needed for their selection of stone, which took place in their warehouse. Marketing materials such as business cards, brochures, and ads were requested to coincide with the new website.

Built For All Devices
With 50% of all web traffic coming from mobile devices, it's necessary to have a responsive website that is consistent across devices. Sites not optimized for mobile can cause frustration to the user and make them to leave entirely. Creating a seamless transition between devices allows the user experience consistent throughout desktop, laptop, tablet, and phone.

Design
The redesign was to incorporate granite subtly throughout the site and keep it light and clean. It was important to move all the elements from the previous site into a layout that fit the new aesthetic. The strong brand colors help call attention to any important clickable links.
Development
Building from scratch gave the opportunity to learn core concepts of HTML5 & CSS3 more in-depth. Having a better understanding helps working with frameworks and already existing code. Troubleshooting errors also provided problem solving skills that help to debug faster.
CSS Flexbox Layout
With full browser support, flexbox was used to develop the layout. It provides a simplistic way to build the structure as opposed to floats.
Auto Hide Nav
The nav hides on down scroll and pops back up on up scroll.
Google Map API
Google Maps API lets you customize maps with your own content and imagery for display on web pages
Plugins
Code plugins help accelerate the development process to get the website live at a quicker pace.
