Design  I  Development

Network Next Gen is a community of designers from different spheres that connect people to brands and manufacturers. Besides the online connection, they host dinners across the U.S. to deepen their connection with the community. I’ve worked with them over the years for all their web needs, from redesigns to platform changes.

Redesign

I’ve worked with NNG many times in the past. The first time was redesigning their Squarespace site and helping their staff with the platform. The next and most recent was a redesign, along with a switch to Webflow.

The brand has changed over the years and they've wanted design changes as they’ve progressed and grown. I helped them coordinate what was important to include each step of the way.

  1. I start each process by researching the competitors in that specific industry. It helps give insight into what others are doing and how I can improve and adapt to my client's needs.
  2. The next step is to set up wireframes in place of content to help visualize the site's flow. I typically set up three and go back to the client to present the three mockups. It gives options and the ability to mix and match parts that they may like from one design to the other.
  3. The final step before I can start building is to review the options with the client. This stage has back and forth with any edits they may want. Once they’re happy, I can start the development.

Development

The most important aspect of development was helping their team with a simple way to upload content without any technical knowledge. NNG specifically requested to use Webflow, so I had to learn the ins and outs of it. They have different names for everything, but it’s essentially the same as any other CMS.

Hosting/Platform/Page Builder/E-Commerce

A major advantage to Webflow is that everything is under one roof.

Collections

Collections are Webflow's version of databases and a big component of what NNG required. This was the main tool used to help their team throw all content in one section and it would distribute it out onto the front end of the site.

Custom Code

I had to write some custom javascript to override default functionality on certain modules.
